Guwahati is capital city of northeastern state of Assam. The city of Guwahati is commonly referred to as Gate way of northeastern India. Currently the location of Guwahati is on the north eastern side of state in between the eastern hill flanks of the Himalayan ranges. Guwahati is the gateway of all seven north eastern states of India. It is located at height of approximately 55 m above from sea level and situated on the banks of the river Brahmaputra. In this city have three national highways such as 31, 37 and 40 and Guwahati at their junction point.


The river Brahmaputra is divided the Guwahati city has two different parts such as the north Guwahati and south Guwahati. The temperature of Guwahati during summer, it reach maximum of 38 degree Celsius, while during winter months the minimum temperatures falls to 10 degree Celsius. An annual rainfall of Guwahati 180 cm is received. The month of October to April is the best time to visit Guwahati.




Kamrup is the God of Love is believed to be shifting in Guwahati. Kamakhya is one of the important shrines among the tantric shrines of Shakti. The Kamakhya temple of the city is situated on the top of Nilachal hill. Most of the devotees of Guwahati offer the sacrifices of animals at Kamakhya temple to please the Goddess. A temple of Kamakhya is the temple of Goddess Bhuvaneshwari. The Guwahati city can be viewed as if one is viewing from a bird’s eye. In the middle of Brahmaputra River is one of its island is the popular temple of Shiva in Guwahati.
